Free Online Reputation Analysis

I was browsing around the web to find some interesting social media marketing case studies. Below, I have laid out the basic details of three case studies that I personally believe are inspiring in terms of the goal set, methodology used, and the results achieved.

Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company: Building Buzz in the Blogosphere

Joffrey's Coffee social media marketing case study
Goal: To increase traffic, generate buzz and create brand awareness in the social media world and the blogosphere. Every aspect of the promotion should match with the brand image.

How: Bloggers could sign up for a free coffee sample at the company’s special beta test site. Along with the free coffee they were given a trackback link from the test site to their blog.

Result:

  • Over 1500 bloggers participated
  • Thousands of mentions around the web
  • Hundreds of links to the site
  • Hundreds of comments
  • The story was picked up by Mashable, CNET and traditional media.

Network Solutions: Decreasing the negative commentary ratio

Network Solutions social media marketing case study
Goal: Apparently, Network Solutions was building up a bad online reputation due to the increasing amount of negative comments from customers. The goal was to decrease the company’s 58 percent negative commentary ratio by 20 points.

How: The hired agency “tapped” the negative-themed online conversations and started to respond to each one of them. They concentrated on Twitter, blogs and forums.

Result: The 58% of negative comments dropped to 18%.

Wandsworth Common Beer Festival: Generating Buzz to increase ticket sales

Wandsworth Common Beer Festival social media marketing case study
Goal: To get people buy tickets for a beer festival that has never happened before. (Sounds hard)

How: As it turned out, using social media like Twitter, Facebook, blogs and other online communities was the way to go. The traffic coming from all the social media sites was routed to Eventbrite for ticket sales.

Result:

  • 6 out of every 10 attendants learned about the festival through social media.
  • £11.41 of revenue for each £1 spent on social media marketing (=11x ROI).
