It is interesting to see the effect of social media in a more local level. More and more people are brought together and organize their actions locally with the help of social media websites. As a Pittsburgh-based company, we embrace any effort to localize and utilize the reach of social media and this is why today we dedicate this post to the ones that lead these efforts. Below, I present the three most active and promising groups/communities of what we will call Social Pittsburgh (#socialburgh).
Podcamp Pittsburgh
In their words, Podcamp Pittsburg is free community
UnCofenrence, run by and for people who create, enjoy or are interested in learning more about social media. The 4th Podcamp Pittsburgh will take place this October (10-11) and we all plan to attend. The Podcamp is targeting anyone interested in social media; both consumers and businesses. Social media experts and creators will show up and present their ideas, their tips and their vision of the future shape of social media.
Pittsburgh Tweetup
This is a social network built within Ning that offers the ability to all Pittsburgh twitter and social media enthusiasts to organize their actions, meet, exchange ideas and have fun. The network is growing strong and currently more than 200 members have joined. Even though I haven’t attended any of the tweetups yet, I must say I am really looking forward to the one coming up on July 10th at the
Wineloft.
Pittsburgh Bloggers
Simple but very useful website that brings together all Pittsburgh bloggers. There are over 1000 blogs listed and anyone interested to see who and what is blogged from Pittsburgh should visit the website. I like checking out the new blogs added every few days. It’s a good way to get updated on the city’s latest blog activity.
Did I miss something? Comment and I will update the post if something worth mentioning is brought up.
