Sitemaps are very useful when you get lost in a website looking for something. It gives you the whole website structure in just a page. Sitemaps are very useful for SEO purposes as well. Not only the HTML sitemaps used in websites but also the XML sitemaps that are submitted in search engines. You can generate a XML sitemap for your own website using online tools like XML-Sitemaps. There some limitations there (the number of pages should be below 500) but otherwise it works great.
