I think all of this depends on Google +1 being successful, which is doubtful. Google hasn't exactly proven successful with social...buzz, wave, orkut, google sidewiki.

Aside from that, I hope my friends aren't so boring as to "+1" results for informational searches. If my friends begin using +1 and make it easier for me to determine which Youtube video I should click on when I do a Google search for "Gucci Gucci," then I think Google +1 will have found its inconsequential purpose.

hey, it looks like you're one of the few companies who really take the time to research and write on what people need to hear.

would you recommend Internet freelancers to use google place optimization too?

I've personally seen the importance of using SEO with sites I've built in the past. I think when a lawyer or other business professional is in doubt as to how to construct an effective website, assign the work to a professional. You should at least be willing to learn the basics of SEO to get the most targeted trafic.

Yes you are very right that There are many companies who claim to be able to manage your online reputation for you. However, a truly successful online reputation management campaign can only really be done with significant input from the company who initiates it. A real expert is usually needed to confront problems on a person to person level. However, monitoring and setting up social media networks in order to influence an online reputation can safely be left up to a third party company. This is a great post on how to manage the online reputation.

Very interesting to see a SWOT Analysis on such a prominent web site

I would agree that there are more weaknesses of it though, mainly to do with the amount of spam messages, there seem to be constant invites to gain more followers

Interesting point about the opportunity for search engine domination as we start to see twitter posts indexed in search engines.

Be very careful with this advice.

LinkedIn has started suspending accounts for violating the rules. If you put junk in the field where your name goes, you may end up in a difficult situation.

I imagine they code some sort of "is there something odd in the name field" search and run it on a periodic basis - and flag accounts to be examined by an individual.

LinkedIn can and does play a part in your online presence, and you don't need to skirt their rules to benefit from it;-)
