Join Eyeflow CEO & President Phil Laboon as well as some of Pittsburgh's finest as we shutdown the streets for the 17th Street Spectacular!

Less than one year removed from the summertime fundraising event that captured headlines from all across the globe, Eyeflow CEO & President Phil Laboon is at it once again in hopes to recapture the magic of LemonAID one more time.

On Sunday, August 2nd 2015, the 17th Street Spectacular is set to take over Pittsburgh’s Southside once again to raise funds for a great cause, shutting down an entire city block as the streets come alive with music, local celebrities and more to help raise funds to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

One of Pittsburgh’s Fifty Finest

For the past 20 years, the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been challenging the city’s most accomplished men and women of the year to rise to the challenge of raising funds and increasing awareness of Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a truly devastating disease, presenting a daily challenge to nearly 30,000 Americans from childhood into their 30s and 40s, and 1,000 new patients are diagnosed each year. While the symptoms of the disease can vary considerably from patient to patient, there is still hope for those battling with CF.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation provides patients from Western Pennsylvania and all across the country with a foundation of hope to build their future. When the foundation began many patients didn’t live past elementary school, but thanks to the countless support programs and research efforts many patients survive well into their 30s and 40s. While their accomplishments are nothing short of spectacular, there is still much work to be done.

Last year’s event catapulted Laboon into the spotlight. With success on his side, Laboon hopes he can not only recapture but build upon the accomplishments of last year’s LemonAID to create something truly spectacular that brings the city together like never before.

Announcing The 17th Street Spectacular

While much of the behind-the-scenes work on last year’s LemonAID event was planned merely a month before the big day, Laboon finally had time on his side when it came to planning his next big summertime bash. Time that promises to be a powerful ally in what has already been named one of Pittsburgh’s can’t miss events of the summer!

“We were simply overwhelmed with the amount of support we got from LemonAID, and honestly I feel like this time around it’s only going to grow to be bigger and better. It’s really got the entire Southside buzzing,” said an excited Laboon when asked about Sunday’s event.

Shooting for the spectacular doesn’t come easily though. This year, Phil sought out the help of the entire Pittsburgh community, reaching out to our neighbors across the Southside and city neighborhoods in order to create an event like no other. Finding partners took no time at all, as Bob Gomes of Nakama Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar and Christopher Weck of Sinful Sweets quickly jumped on board.

Over the past several months, Laboon, Weck and the Nakama team have worked side-by-side in order to restore an important part of Southside history and resurrect the long lost 17th Street Spectacular. The outdoor carnival plans to shut down an entire city block in the name of a good cause.

Sunday’s event will take place just outside of Nakama’s 17th Street location in the Southside of Pittsburgh, shutting down an entire city block from 2 – 11 vendors, live bands, food trucks and local celebrities fill the streets to join Laboon and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their fight for a cure to CF.

After months of planning, coordination and hard work, we are excited to extend an invitation to all of Pittsburgh in order to help make the 17th Street Spectacular one of the city’s biggest hits of the summer. Admission to the event is currently being offered at three different ticketing tiers featuring drink tickets, silent auctions, appetizers and ‘Celebrity’ Hibachi Dinners cooked by Mayor Bill Peduto and more of Pittsburgh’s finest celebrities.
